It was also interesting to actually read the text he wrote on the painting, which most of the times looks like a memo but still has deep connections with the purpose of his paintings.
Because I am also thinking about using texts for this project, I'll also think about what relationship has with the text and my project.
although I am not going to do figurative painting of a person, by looking at Egon Schiele's work, it makes me think back again about how to use paint and brushstrokes wisely in order to create atmosphere in the painting.
I really like his self portrait painting, and especially how he painted the background. It's because the background actually has the same strangeness as the figure of himself which overall creates strong work.
This was actually my first time to properly see Basquiat's paintings.
I felt really emotional watching his paintings one by one, and every time I walked past the painting it felt like I gained some sort of power from his work.
It was really interesting to see how he makes decision making with the medium he uses, such as wood, broken door, spray paint, acrylic paint and such.
I might also work with wood again, because by looking at his work, the wood surface really complimented the paint more and felt much more stronger than the canvas painted ones.
