Kei Matsunaga - Moratorium
this was actually my friend's installation, and she created a house covered with silver paper outside the garden.
Inside the house there were plenty of pictures she took and the poems she wrote. One by one I went through them and after the exhibition was over, she made it to an actual place for people to drink and eat.
Few people including myself spend quite a long time inside the house, talking and eating and it was very interesting spending 'normal time' in the actual work she created.
I liked how the space turned into the actual communication space and how her work was physically surrounding the people. Although sometimes I forgot that I was in her artwork, because it really felt like a place to hang out, after getting out of it and going back to dorm it made me think back how the house was like a secret place. And how the house existence allowed people to come together and spend out of normal time.
I want to create the viewer to feel like surrounded by the art work mentally, it was also a great experience to feel how it feels like to be surrounded physically by the artwork.
